Paterson Invaders: A Defunct Baseball Team
The Paterson Invaders were a minor league baseball team based in Paterson, New Jersey. They played in the Class C Hudson River League from 1904 to 1907. Initially, they were called the Paterson Intruders during their first season. However, in 1905, they rebranded as the Invaders, keeping the name until 1906. In 1907, they reverted to their original name.
Managed by Dick Cogan, the team quickly became a strong contender. They finished second in both 1904 and 1905. Then, in 1906, they secured the league championship. Unfortunately, despite their success, the team disbanded during the 1907 season. As a result, the Hudson River League soon dissolved as well.
the Paterson Invaders played an important role in minor league baseball. Their story reflects the competitive nature of early 20th-century baseball. Even today, their legacy remains a fascinating part of the sport’s history.
Baseball history extends far beyond teams like the Salem Witches. Over time, several leagues have shaped the sport’s evolution.
