Description
Burlington Route 1855 Graphic Tee
Before the interstates. Before the highways. Before America had another way to move west, there was the Burlington Route. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad reporting mark CBQ operated some of the most extensive trackage in the Midwestern United States Wikipedia, stitching together cities, prairies, and possibilities from Chicago to Denver, Minneapolis to Kansas City. Because of this extensive reach across the Midwest and mountain states, the railroad carried the advertising slogans “Everywhere West,” “Way of the Zephyrs,” and “The Way West.” Wikipedia Three phrases. One iron promise.
The earliest predecessor of the CB&Q, the Aurora Branch Railroad, was chartered by the Illinois General Assembly on October 2, 1848 Wikipedia born out of necessity, built by citizens who refused to be bypassed by progress. It grew steadily, absorbed smaller lines, pushed rails further west, and evolved with every passing decade. It was the act of February 14, 1855 that reorganized the line as the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad Wikipedia, consolidating four separate railroad companies into a single, unified force. That year 1855 is the one on this shirt. Not chosen at random. Chosen because it marks the moment the Burlington Route truly became itself.
What followed was a century of expansion that reshaped the American interior. By 1882, the CB&Q had completed its line all the way to Denver Wikipedia, threading through Nebraska, crossing the Missouri River, and connecting the heartland to the Rockies. Its primary connections included Chicago, Minneapolis–Saint Paul, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Denver Wikipedia a network so vast it felt less like a railroad and more like the circulatory system of a continent.
And through it all, the Burlington Route kept its books clean. From 1862 onward, the railroad and its successors paid dividends continuously and never defaulted on a loan — the only Class I U.S. railroad for which this is true. Wikipedia That kind of financial integrity, sustained across generations of American boom and bust, says everything about the institution behind the logo.
In 1970, the CB&Q merged with the Northern Pacific Railway and the Great Northern Railway to form the Burlington Northern Railroad Wikipedia a giant that lives on today as BNSF Railway, still running freight across the same corridors the original Burlington Route carved out of the prairie more than 150 years ago. The name changed. The legacy never did.
This Burlington Route CB&Q 1855 graphic tee is a bold, unapologetic tribute to that legacy vintage typography, retro design, and the kind of worn-in energy that belongs on a well-traveled man who knows his history and isn’t afraid to wear it.

FAQ
What is an 80s tee?
An 80s tee is a graphic T-shirt made in the 1980s, or designed to look as if it had been. The originals covered concerts, films, television shows, ball clubs, tourist attractions and local businesses, printed on thin cotton or cotton-polyester blanks. Today the term covers both surviving originals and new shirts built on the same look.
What products do you offer ?
The shop covers t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, tanks, and long sleeves, along with hats, mugs, and a growing range of accessories built around the same artwork. New pieces are added as new designs and collections come together.
Oui. Merch on Demand d’Amazon est non exclusif.
Are products made to order ?
Yes. Nothing is pre-printed or held in warehouse stock. Each order goes into production only after it's placed, which is what allows the shop to carry a wide, specific catalog instead of a narrow set of pre-stocked bestsellers.
What is your return policy ?
Returns and exchanges are handled directly, order number and details required. Full terms are outlined in the return policy.
